DENTAL

CLEANING

Proper Dental Care Can Add Three to Five Years to Your Pet's Life.

Dental cleanings are performed while patient is under anesthesia. The teeth are cleaned with an ultrasonic scaler and then polished.

We can perform extractions on teeth that are loose or have compromised roots. If the root is healthy and the tooth is large, we may not be able to extract it and will recommend that you see a full-service veterinarian. We will not do any extractions that require splitting the tooth with a saw to remove it. We do not perform dental x-rays.

If extractions are needed, there is pocketing around the roots, or gum disease, we will need to prescribe antibiotics. We also have pain medication available for $15 if you feel your pet needs it. We recommend getting bloodwork done by your regular full-service veterinarian prior to the dental cleaning if your pet is 8 years old or older. There is increased risk when putting older pets under anesthesia. This bloodwork (CBC and blood chemistry) will help us to see if your pet has any underlying issues that may pose a problem.

You can choose to schedule without getting bloodwork done in advance but we do not recommend doing so and you will be required to sign an “Against Medical Advisement” form.
